Entry requirements for Ghana
Most African delegates travel to Ghana without a visa. Almost everyone still needs an online authorisation before boarding. Visa on arrival no longer exists.
What changed: 25 May 2026. Visa on arrival discontinued. ECOWAS and AES visa-free with no ETA. Free ETA for other qualifying states. eVisa from USD 260 single entry.

Which route applies to you
Ghana operates three entry routes. Find yours below, then confirm your own case on the official checker before booking anything. This page never replaces the official portal.
Route 1: visa-free
ECOWAS and AES member states enter visa-free, with no online authorisation.
The official list of qualifying states will be published here once copied verbatim from the official checker. Until then, confirm your passport on the official portal.
Route 2: free electronic travel authorisation (ETA)
Other qualifying states apply for a free ETA before travel. Eligibility is defined by the official portal's own checker, not by African Union membership, so check your passport there even if you expect to qualify.
The official list of qualifying states will be published here once copied verbatim from the official checker.
Route 3: eVisa
All other passports apply for an eVisa before travel. The corroborated single-entry fee appears in the summary at the top of this page.

Fees
Only the single-entry standard eVisa fee is corroborated; it appears in the summary at the top of this page. The full fee schedule, single and multiple entry, standard, priority and express, will be published here once verified against the official portal.
Business or tourist application
The eVisa has business and tourist application routes. The business route requires a Ghanaian certificate of incorporation and an invitation letter. The tourist route requires an itinerary and a hotel booking, and is materially lighter for most delegates. Unless your employer requires a business visa, use the tourist route.
Invitation letters
Invitation letters are issued after full payment of a registration, within five working days, and not on complimentary registrations. The issuing host entity will be named here once confirmed.
Check that your guidance is current
Some governments and airlines have not updated their guidance since Ghana's entry regime changed, and may still tell you to obtain a visa from a Ghanaian mission. Rely on the official portal, and carry a printed copy of your ETA or eVisa approval when you travel.
Health: yellow fever
Yellow fever vaccination: Mandatory from 9 months, checked at port of entry. Vaccinate in good time before travel, and carry your certificate whatever its issue date.
For all other health guidance, consult your travel clinic before booking.
Help from the visa desk
A named contact, with one email address, one phone number and a stated response time, will be published here.
Never send passport scans through this website. There is no upload facility here, deliberately. Passport correspondence goes only to the controlled mailbox that will be published above.
If your visa is denied
The refund policy for visa denials, including its documentation requirement and its review deadline, will be published with registration.
